Myth: You can pay your Maritime Electric bill by calling the Canada Games ticket hotline.

Maritime Electric is a proud sponsor of the 2009 Canada Games. So proud, that they decided to put our logo and phone number on all their bills they send out to patrons to encourage them to take part and attend.

Why is this important?

Because everyone thinks that if they call the number at the bottom of their bill, they can talk to someone about paying it.

Example #1:
Allison: Bonjour, Canada Games. My name is Allison, how may I help you?
Caller: Um, Ok. Somebody's going to be living in my place fer a bit and I was wondering if I could arrange to have the electric bill put into their name fer a bit... Do ya think ya do that for me?
Allison: Um... actually this is the line to purchase tickets for the Canada Games...
Caller: Oh.... Well do you know the number where I can find that out?
Allison: (pause) Umm.... well I can look it up I guess. Is it for Maritime Electric?
Caller: Yep.
Allison: (pause to google Maritime Electric, find the phone number) Ok found it.
Caller: K, thanks. *click

Allison: Bonjour...
Caller: Yes, I'd like to speak to someone about my bill.
Allison: Oh, have you been double charged or something?
Caller: No...(pause) oh wait, there's another number on this. Maybe I'll try that.
Allison: Oh! It's for Maritime Electric! Yeah, just give that other line a call...
